I
’m comparing the first 9 episodes of the same programme but on different channels. At the beginning there are more people watching it on E4, but then the viewing figures decrease. Channel 4 have more viewers as it is always has good programmes throughout the day. This is not the same for E4, as E4 has more drama programmes on all the time. This makes channel 4 more popular.Slide5

On the Standard Occupational Classification we have decided that the classification likely to be (C1) “Lower Middle Class” that view the Skins TV programme.
British cultured teens and young adults can relate to the activities that this series shows in the storylines, this gives the audience some entertainment and comparison of what they do in audiences life.Slide6
Audience Needs
Gender-wise the TV programme aims at both males and females, the audience age category is between the ages of 16 – 25. Teens are quite open in this show as it shows different types relationships and sexual activities and religious beliefs and cultures in Britain.
Depending on what social groups for example; Men like to see big breasts, cars, sports, violence.
Women like to see topless sexy men, love life, gossip, backstabbers (bitchiness).Slide7
Genre
I
researched what genre the Skins TV show and I
have found out it is a teen drama/comedy.
http://www.tv.com/skins-uk/show/67845/summary.html
There are some scenes that show this for example; in the second series the characters Effy and Freddie fall in love at first
shight
, but everyone does including Cook. Effy and Cook hook up but Effy still loves Freddie, also Cook and Freddie end up fighting over Effy ruining their good friendship. This is just a small part of drama in the series.Slide8
Codes
The producer has used young actors to grab a young type of audience.
I
watched a scene from one of the episodes and saw that the producer used locations like abandoned buildings to film a scene of teens partying. They used loud music and it looked like a festival type of party, there were also drugs, drink, swearing and violence. Most older people today who would see this would think that the youth of today is like this, but its not all parties, sex, drink and drugs. This creates a bad image on younger people who would watch this and copy it.Slide9

Skins starts at 10pm, so its after the watershed. Where TV can show violence, sex, drugs, drink and strong languages.
