Accessioning

Reducing Order Entry RedundancyHIS orders can be sent via an OE i nterface from the HIS to SoftPathThe patients are still referenced from the SoftLab databaseThe transmitted test tells the system which case type to use

GYN/MED Info Lab tests can be linked to the different fields on the GYN and Med Info question tabs. Transmitting the resulted tests to SoftLab, then accessioning using that lab order can reduce double order entry for this information.SCC configures this in PatAdmin.

Auto Printing Cassettes and LabelsSpecimen, case, slide, control labels, and cassettes can all be setup to autoprintThis can be done for labels by user and siteCassettes can be printed via the following table

Barcode UtilityBarcodes from specimen labels, cassettes, and slides can be used to improve positive patient identification throughout the system Cassette barcodes can be scanned to process cases in Processing WorklistPathologists using an Orders shortcut to request additional stains can scan a slide they were provided to ensure orders are for the correct patientAvailable barcode styles are linear 3 of 9 and 2 of 5 as well as 2D DataMatrix

Processing

Slide StainersBi-directional instrument stainer interfaces are now available in SoftPathIn addition to typical staining some can also provide specimen tracking functionality for the pathology lab

System limitations require processing to occur prior to printing labels so timestamps are inaccurate. Using Processing Verification can provide a more accurate indication of when slide were completed .

Results

Voice DictationHands free navigation is great for Pathologists and the Grossing RoomCan be used to change sections, insert canned messages, and go to different cases

F or users in Results Entry, enabling Setup > Options > Miscellaneous > General, “Auto-Invoke MS Word at Login” can improve application speed

SoftMediaCan enable better organization of scanned images using the image repositoryAllows SoftPath reports to be displayed with regular formatting on the HIS via a PDF hyperlink

Manager’s Dashboard and My WorkspaceManager’s Dashboard efficiently assists with case assignment and workload reviews My Workspace can be convenient, however cases are removed after additional stains are ordered which some pathologists dislike. They may prefer to use My Results Worklist.

Miscellaneous

Grants better organization of searches and allows exporting to Excel

What happened? Softpath Reports are not printing check/set Adobe preferences.  These two need to be unchecked:- Enable protected mode at startup- Enable enhanced security
