WOLFPACK DRILL

Purpose of the drill is to focus on short bursts of edge work and full ice puck skills No more than 5 skaters per line width ways.

Width of the ice: using two tires the skater goes out to the center tire and back to the near, then to the far and back to the center, then past the far to get in line for the next drill.

Forward to Backward Transition and vice versa; insert puck and repeat

Exaggerated Outside Edge turns

Exaggerated Inside Edge Turns

Fall at first tire, up by second and back; insert puck and repeat

Side step crossovers as wide as possible; Side step crossovers as fast as possible

Three tight turns and change sides when coming back (no alternating tires on this one)

Sprint to far tire, backwards to near tire race to far tire with next in line

Length of the ice: using all tires: exaggerated stick deeks; tight turns with pucks; weave with pucks; backwards no pucks; sprint to third tire, one legged weave through remainder of tiresSlide3

On the penalty kill, RD, LD, F1 and F2 will work to remain in a “BOX” formation

Forcing the play to the perimeter and NOT allowing the puck to penetrate

When the play is shifted to the opposite side of the rink, players will rotate,

But remain in the “BOX”

Example: RD is covering the puck (XX), if XX turns his/her back, bobbles the puck,

slips, falls down, etc. RD must jump the situation instantly

Any chance given, we MUST clear the zone

The basic function of the overload is to isolate X1, using F1 and F2

F1 and F2 will move the puck trying create small give-and-go’s past X1

Once F2 makes the play from F1, there are options. F2 take it alone, pass to F3

on the “back door,” other option is to move it to RD
