Mattan

Torah”Slide5

The Giving of the Torah

Just as Passover memorializes the exodus from Egypt, Pentecost memorializes the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai.

To commemorate the day that He gave His Torah to Israel, the LORD commanded the children of Israel to observe the day of Shavuot as an appointed timeSlide6

The Giving of the Torah

Pentecost means "fifty." The festival is called Pentecost because it comes fifty days after the first day of Passover.

The Torah refers to it as the Festival of

Weeks

(Shavu'ot) because it occur. Seven weeks after the first day of Passover. Henceforth we will use the Hebrew name of the festival: Shavuot.Slide7

One Accord

Exodus 19:2

When they set out from

Rephidim

, they came to the wilderness of Sinai and camped in the wilderness; and there Israel camped in front of the mountain.Slide8

Purpose of Redemption

Exodus 19:3

Moses went up to God. The LORD called to him out of the mountain, saying, "Thus you shall say to the house of Jacob, and tell the people of Israel."Slide9

Redemption Not Ultimate Objective

The redemption of Israel was merely a step on the way to the ultimate objective of:

A relationship with God

(covenant)

A divine revelation

(Torah) The same concept applies to the spiritual redemption we receive through faith in Yeshua. The objective is not merely our own personal salvation from condemnation. God sent His Son to reconcile sinners to Him in relationship (new covenant)

and to reveal Himself to them (Torah).Slide10

Final Redemption

The objective is not merely the ingathering of the exiles of Israel and the defeat of Israel's enemies. The final redemption looks towards:

The initiation of a

new covenant

A new revelation of

Torah. Exodus = Final Redemption Covenant at Sinai = New Covenant Messianic Era Moses = Yeshua Mount Sinai = Mount Zion

Giving of Torah = Going Out of the TorahSlide11

Exodus 19:16

So it came about on the third day, when it was morning, that there were thunder and lightning flashes and a thick cloud upon the mountain and a very loud trumpet sound, so that all the people who were in the camp trembled. Slide16

The Torah of Messiah

The Messiah will teach a "New Torah," the Torah of Messiah. The Messiah's "New Torah will go forth" to all nations, as it says, ''A Torah will go forth from Me, and I will set My justice for a light of the peoples"

(Isaiah 51:4).Slide17

Levertoff

The Messianic revelation will be more perfect than the revelation at Sinai. Then it was but momentary, a glimpse; in the new age it will be permanent and continuous. All we see now is the mirrored reflection; then it will be the reality we see. The least in those days shall be greater than the greatest of these.
