No ShameSlide2

God wants all to repent

God commands all to repent

30

Truly

, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, Acts 17:30Slide3

God wants all to repent

All must come to repentance

9 The

Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9Slide4

God wants all to repent

Repentance was preached to all

Then He said to them, “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, 47 and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

Luke

24:46-47Slide5

God wants all to repent

Christ commanded repentance

5 Remember

therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place—unless you repent.

Revelation

2:5Slide6

God wants all to repent

Christ commanded repentance

16 Repent, or else I will come to you quickly and will fight against them with the sword of My mouth. Revelation 2:16Slide7

Why should all Repent?

Because sin condemns

23 For

the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans

6:23Slide8

Why should all Repent?

Because sin condemns

Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, 31 because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.”

Acts

17:30-31Slide9

Why should all Repent?

Because of the coming judgment

There

were present at that season some who told Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. 2 And Jesus answered and said to them, “Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans, because they suffered such things? Slide10

Why should all Repent?

Because of the coming judgment

3 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. 4 Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem? 5 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.” Luke

13:1-5Slide11

Why should all Repent?

Because

the grace of God is only available to those who do what is required and repentance of sin is

required.

What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? 2 Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? 3 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Slide12

Why should all Repent?

Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, Slide13

Why should all Repent?

knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. 7 For he who has died has been freed from sin. 8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, Slide14

Why should all Repent?

knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. 10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. 11 Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans

6:9-11Slide15

Why should all Repent?

Because of God’s Goodness

4

Or

do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?

Romans

2:4Slide16

Have mercy upon me, O

God, According

to Your

lovingkindness; According

to the multitude of Your tender

mercies, Blot

out my transgressions.

2

Wash me thoroughly from my

iniquity, And

cleanse me from my sin. Slide21

Misconceptions

3 For I acknowledge my

transgressions, And

my sin is always before me.

4

Against You, You only, have I

sinned, And

done this evil in Your

sight— That

You may be found just when You

speak, And

blameless when You judge.

5

Behold, I was brought forth in

iniquity, And

in sin my mother conceived me. Slide22

Misconceptions

6 Behold

, You desire truth in the inward

parts, And

in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom.

7

Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be

clean; Wash

me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

8

Make me hear joy and

gladness, That

the bones You have broken may rejoice.

9

Hide Your face from my

sins, And

blot out all my iniquities. Slide23

10 Create

in me a clean heart, O

God, And

renew a steadfast spirit within me.

11

Do not cast me away from Your

presence, And

do not take Your Holy Spirit from

me. 12

Restore to me the joy of Your

salvation, And

uphold me by Your generous Spirit. Psalms

a light to my path.

I have sworn and

confirmed That

I will keep Your righteous judgments.

Conclusion

Let

us have the right

frame

of mind concerning repentance and public pleas in general. Such is not a sign of weakness but a sign of humbleness and a reminder that we are only human

.Slide29

Conclusion

As a father pities his children, So the Lord pities those who fear Him. 14 For He knows our frame;

He remembers that we are dust.
