DECOMPRESSION SICKNESS(BEND,CAISSON DISEASE ,DYSBARISM)

RELATIONSHIP OF PRESURE TO SEA DEPTH When we go to deep into sea ,with every 33ft depth ,pressure increases by one atmosphere A column of seawater 33 ft deep exerts the same pressure at its bottom as the pressure of the atmosphere above the sea. At 33ft depth of sea, a person is exposed to 2 atmospheric pressure

EFFECT OF HIGH PARTIAL PRESSURES ON BODY NITROGEN NARCOSIS AT HIGH NITROGEN PRESSURES OXYGEN TOXICITY AT HIGH PRESSURE

DECOMPRESSION SICKNESS If a diver remains beneath sea for a long time ,large amount of nitrogen becomes dissolved in his body fluids. When the diver suddenly comes back to sea surface , nitrogen bubbles develop in his ICF, ECF that damage different areas of body especially brain .

CLINICAL FEATURES Local pain in legs or arms Dizziness Paralysis Chokes or shortness of breath Extreme fatigue and pain
