Why did I take ACCUPLACER? To see what you NEED TO WORK ON in math, reading, and grammar in order to BE READY FOR COLLEGE by high school graduation To get familiar with a college placement exam To see if you are COLLEGE READY and prepared to take college course through dual enrollment You can use these scores at any two-year college in South Carolina…even after high school graduation!

Finding the right class for you Technical/Applied Two-year Track English: See left column of requirement by program. Mathematics: See right column of requirement by program.Example: Veterinary TechnologyENGL101: English Composition IMAT120: Probability & Statistics

Finding the right class for you Four Year Track English (all majors): ENG 101: English Composition IENG 102: English Composition II Mathematics (most math, science, engineering majors):MAT140: Analytical Geometry & Calculus IMany math, science & engineering majors will require you to take math beyond this level.Mathematics (most liberal arts majors):MAT110: College Algebra OR MAT120: Probability & Statistics

Where did you place? ENG 100: Similar level to English 4 in high school ENG 031/032: Learn grammar rules and how to write effectively RDG032 & RDG100: Learn reading comprehension and retention

Where did you place? Most math courses also require a reading score MAT102: Similar to Algebra I in HS MAT101: Similar to Pre Algebra in middle school MAT031 & MAT032: Similar to Basic Math in elementary and middle school

What do you do now that you have your scores? Consider the possibilities: I am happy with my level and I can……take dual enrollment classes in my senior year.I know I can do better, so I will… …practice and retake the assessment.…take classes my senior year that will prepare me and build my skills for college level classes after high school graduation.

Should you retake the assessment? Retake the assessment in junior year ONLY if you plan to take college/dual enrollment courses in your senior yearOtherwise, wait and retake the assessment in spring of senior year to give yourself time to improve knowledge/skills which were lacking

How to retake the assessment? Any Tri-County Technical College Campus No appointment necessary Bring your School ID or SC Drivers License/IDCome prepared* For more information on retesting, go to www.tctc.edu and click on Admissions then Placement Testing

Life Scholarship Need a minimum 3.0 final high school GPA on uniform grading scale Need a minimum 3.0 final high school GPA on uniform grading scale Graduate in the top 30% of your class24+ ACT or 1100 SAT (Critical Reading & Math only) $5,000 per year! 2 Year Technical Colleges 4 Year Colleges & Universities

Life Scholarship May use on certificate, diploma, and degree courses May requalify every year for up to four years Complete 30 credit hours (≈ 10 classes) and earn a 3.0 GPA by the end of freshman year to get scholarship again sophomore year $5,000 per year!
