Letters and numbers vary in width

Forming Letters/Numbers
Difference in width gives the letters more pleasing proportions. Thus some letters are almost as wide as they are high, while others are slightly narrower.
“W” is the widest letter in the alphabet.Slide5
Spacing letters and words
There is not a uniform distance a part, judge the spacing by eye.Slide6
Height of letters and words
General notes, letters, and dimensions are 1/8”
high.
Titles are 3/16” to ¼”
Fractions are ¼” high
