Cor
11:26
For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes
.
1
Cor
11:27-29 Therefore
whoever eats this bread or drinks
this
cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood[d] of the Lord. 28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 29 For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy
manner
eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the
Lord’s
body

Is The Church a Hospital?
Luke 5:31
Luke 5:31
Jesus answered and said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.Slide7
“The Church is Hospital for sinners, Not a Museum for Christians”
Do you understand what people are trying to imply with that?Slide8
Sin is often discussed in terms of sickness (Isa. 53:5; 1 Pet. 2:24).
Sin can be present without being recognized (Rev. 3:17).
The sooner it is caught and addressed, the better the chances of recovery (Jas. 1:14-15).
It is corrosive and far reaching in its effects (1 Cor. 5:6,8).
It is contagious (Romans 1:32).
A physician is needed (Eph. 2:8).
Sin is a Disease
Isaiah 53:5
But He
was
wounded
for our transgressions,
He was bruised
for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace
was
upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.
1 Pet 2:24
who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.
Rev 3:17 Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked
James 1:14,15 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. 15 Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.
1 Cor 5:6,8 Your glorying is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? 8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
Romans 1: 32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.
Ephesians 2:8
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves;
it is
the gift of God,Slide9
Jeremiah 5: 31
The prophets prophesy falsely,
And the priests rule by their
own
power;
And My people love
to have it
so.
But what will you do in the end?
Some Distinction
Sin is a disease people love to participate in (Jer. 5:31).
The side effects of sin are not always unpleasant (Jer. 12:1).
Sin is always our choice (Gen. 4:6-7).
The cure is always requires effort (Phil. 2:12).
The cure is guaranteed (Isa. 1:18).
Jer 12:1 Righteous
are
You, O Lord, when I plead with You;
Yet let me talk with You about
Your judgments.Why does the way of the wicked prosper?
Why are those happy who deal so treacherously?Gen 4:6,7 So the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? 7 If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.”
Philippians 2:12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;
Isaiah 1:18 “Come now, and let us reason together,”Says the Lord,“Though your sins are like scarlet,They shall be as white as snow;Though they are red like crimson,They shall be as wool.Slide10
In a hospital:
People come to be made well (
Lk
. 5:31-32).
Painful surgeries are performed (Rom. 2:29).
Difficult lifestyle changes are prescribed (Matt. 19:22).
Those who refuse medical care are discharged (1 Cor. 5:5-6).
In hospice:
Hope of recovery is generally gone.
Comfort is the goal, not cure (2 Tim. 4:3; Isa 30:10).
Making a phone call to
a
hospice,
is a “sad” thing.
Hospital or Hospice
Luke 5:31,32
Jesus answered and said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. 32 I have not come to call
the
righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”Romans 2:29 but
he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from men but from God.Matthew 19:22
But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.
1 Cor 5:5-6 5 deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.6 Your glorying is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump?
2 Tim 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers;
Isaiah 30:10 Who say to the seers, “Do not see,”And to the prophets, “Do not prophesy to us right things;Speak to us smooth things, prophesy deceits.Slide11
This morning you have come to the Hospital of God, where the Physician on duty
is Our Lord Jesus.
He will see you and give you the right prescription for your problem.
If you are not a Christian He will say, what you need is:
Hear, Believe, Repent, Confess and Be Baptized!
If you are a Christian but you have been living in sin, He will say:
Confess and Repent of your sins. And go, and sin no more!
