Third Crusade

Desmond Miles, a bartender, is kidnapped by Abstergo Industries. There, Desmond is forced to interface with the Animus, a device that is able to replay the genetic

memories of

the user's ancestors. In Desmond's case, they seek information about his ancestor

Altair Ibn-La'Ahad,

an Assassin during the time of the Third

Crusade.

Within the Animus, Altair's memories reveal that he was attempting to stop Robert de Sable from taking an artifact (Ark of the Covenant) from a temple, but broke all three of the Assassin Brotherhood's tenets in the process. The Brotherhood leader, Al Mualim, demotes Altair to the rank of Novice, and assigns him the task of assassinating nine people, all of whom are Templar's, to regain his former status.

A young assassin returns home to Aleppo from an arduous journey, and finds it under attack by Templars. He has no choice but to repel this attack, killing a low-ranking captain in the process. Soon he is tasked by Al-Mualim to find and retrieve a sacred object: the Chalice. It is said to have the power to unite under one flag all the factions of whatever side possesses it — either the Crusaders or the Saracens — and end the Third Crusade in victory for one side or the other. But the Chalice is too powerful an object to be left in the hands of men alone: It must be found and destroyed.Slide3

of a plan of the remaining Templars to escape to Cyprus, and so infiltrates one of their strongholds in Acre to stop them from doing so. Although he does not succeed in this regard, he does defeat and capture Maria Thorpe, who attempted to avenge her former master, Robert de

Sable, who died at Altair's hands. Managing to charter a ship, Altair also heads to Cyprus in pursuit of the apple, with Maria in tow.Slide4

Renaissance

After

being forced to use the Animus device to revisit genetic memories of the Assassin

Altair

Ibn-La'Ahad, and has discovered prophetic warnings from Subject 16 (the previous Animus test subject) describing the end of the world. He is soon rescued by Lucy Stillman, a mole for the Assassins within Abstergo, who takes him to meet two other Assassins, historian Shaun Hastings and computer expert Rebecca Crane.

Ezio Auditore da Firenze, as he travels to 15th century Spain to free his fellow assassins, who have been imprisoned under the guise of the Spanish Inquisition. In the process, he discovers that the Knights Templar are planning to sail west to discover the New

World

. Ezio saves Christoffa or Christopher Columbus, and kills Tomas de Torquemada to end the Templar threat. Ezio also assassinates some other important targets such as: Gasper Martinez, Pedro Llorente, a Templar spy, and Juan de Marillo.

Desmond, William, Rebecca, and Shaun find the Temple in a cave in New York and access it using their Apple of Eden. After partially activating the temple, Juno uses it to communicate with Desmond. Desmond is placed in the Animus where Juno's influence causes him to experience the life of his ancestor in 1754 England: the Templar Grand Master, Haytham Kenway.

In the modern day, Abstergo Entertainment, a subsidiary of Abstergo which is in charge of producing multimedia goods, releases their first major product,

Liberation

, a video game about the life of the Assassin Aveline de

Grandpre. The game, however, is heavily censored, with any details regarding the Assassins - Templar war being omitted, in an attempt to portray the Assassins as the villainous force. As the player progresses through the game, they are greeted by messages from a group of hackers known as Erudito, giving them access to the full story hidden behind Abstergo's censoring attempts.Slide7

the present time—are searching for a First Civilization structure known as the Observatory, and are using the memories of Edward Kenway to find it.The Modern Day plot begins one year after the events of Black Flag, with a new unnamed player character that works for Abstergo Entertainment. While investigating the memories of Shay Patrick Cormac, an Assassin working in the North Atlantic during the French and Indian War, they inadvertently trip a hidden memory file that corrupts the Abstergo servers. With the building being put into lockdown, the player is recruited by Melanie Lemay to continue exploring Cormac's memories in an effort to clear the system.Slide8

The story begins with the player playing through a memory of the sacking of the Paris Temple and the capture of

Grand Master Jacques de Molay in 1307. During the sack, de Molay entrusts another Templar with a sword and a book, which the Templar hides within a French crypt. The memory then fast forwards to de Molay's death at the stake, and his curse towards King Phillip IV and Pope Clement V.Slide9
