GASTROINTESTINAL IMAGING: Transcript
565 Adult Bile Duct Strictures Role of MR Imaging and MR Cholangiopan creatography in Characterization 1 Bile duct strictures in adults are secondary to a wide spectrum of benign and malignant pat. Definition of Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor . the most common mesenchymal malignancy of (GI) tract. the diagnostic criteria for GIST remained controversial and somewhat confusing. Pathology Terms that Encompass the Spectrum of Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors. With Special . focus on gi bleeding in patients with left ventricular assist devices (LVAD). Gastrointestinal Bleeding is a Common Medical Condition . 250K-500K hospital admissions per year. UGI bleeding incidence is 100/100,000 adults. Gastrointestinal Inflammation . Mucosal changes. Indirect evaluation in most cases. Evaluate lumen and effect on lumen. Degree of mucosal involvement determines the imaging findings. Superficial – little effect. Adrenal lesions can either be primary, of adrenal origin, or secondary to other pathologies. Primary adrenal lesions can further be either of cortical or medullary origin. Functioning adrenal lesions can also give clues to the histologic diagnosis and direct workup. Over the years, various imaging techniques have been developed that have increased diagnostic accuracy and helped in better characterization of adrenal lesions non-invasively. In the first part of the two part series, we review adrenal imaging techniques and adrenal cortical tumors such as adenomas, adrenocortical tumors, adrenal hyperplasia and oncocytomas.
