A GREAT START! We are very excited about the New Year and the long anticipated opening of our new neighborhood that will be licensed for skilled nursing care. As I reported last month, we had a minor setback when a sprinkler head blew out in the ceiling of this new neighborhood. We had originally planned to open this neighborhood in December but now we are planning to get our license from the state sometime this month. Once we have our license in hand, we will set the date for our official —Grand Opening” which I hope to announce in next month’s newsletter . SYSTEMS & PEOPLE The first 3 months of this year will be focused on getting new systems in place and hiring the high caliber of people who will help us on the path of creating a new —culture” for long term care. We are proud of our new building and we like what it will enable us to do. But ul- timately we recognize that it is our —people” who make the difference! As an organization that is literally open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, every day of the year, there are lots of —moving parts” and various —issues” to deal with at any given time. It could be arranging an emergency transport to or from the hospital or it might be something like spending a few moments of quality time with a resident who has dementia…it’s our people who make it happen day in and day out. I couldn’t more proud of the staff we currently have on our team here at WRC and I promise we will con- tinue to hire only the best! It utilizes leading edge technology allowing us to essentially become the phone company for our residents. At a charge of only $30/month (NO installation fee), we can provide a —landline phone” for our resi- dents which includes unlimited long dis- tance. Along with this new system, we have eliminated ALL forms of overhead paging. This is another big step along the path of culture change to truly be a —home” for the people who reside here and not an institution. EHR We are moving very fast with our EHR project (Electronic Health Records). We had originally set mid - December as the deadline for this project, but we are now anticipating it will be complete by the end of this month. Once finished, virtu- ally all of our —charting” will be done electronically. Our Director of Nursing, Kristine Martinez, is leading the charge with this project and doing a great job! We are extremely excited about 2014 and all of the changes coming to fruition here at WRC. As always, please GIVE US YOUR FEEDBACK throughout the year. We know there will be bumps in the road and we ALWAYS welcome hearing how we are doing – even when we do NOT meet your expectations. Thank you again for your patience and understanding during our construction phase and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! ‘til next month, JANUARY 2014 Wellsville Welcomer Wellsville Retirement Community Monthly Newsletter When asked what she loves most about WRC, Login replied, "I love the residents, the people I work with...and the vanilla pudding!"
