EU Regulations: change to standard roaming rates in Europe for SMS, calls & dataSlide21
Standard roaming rates in Europe
What’s happening?
Due to a change in the exchange rate between the Euro and
Sterling
we need to reduce our standard roaming rates in Europe for making and receiving calls, sending a text messages and using data in Europe.
Who is affected?
New, re-signing and existing customers on standard rates in Europe. However there are a few of our other propositions which are affected by a part of the new pricing changes, for example, texts, voice or data. Please see the table below for clarification.Slide22

O2 Travel
What’s happening?
The
only thing impacted is the price of a text message, which goes down, so it is good news for customers. Customers will now pay
4
p
instead of 4.9p to send a text message in Europe. The rest of O2 Travel stays the same. £1.66 a day for all the data you need in Europe. Calls cost 41p for the first 60 mins and then 20ppm afterwards. Texts are now 4p to send and free to receive. For all channels except Wholesale ABSSlide26
Improving O2 Travel for customers
As part of improving our customer experience around our roaming props, we’re really happy to announce we’ve
made an improvement
to O2 Travel.
Today customers on O2 Travel are throttled once they’ve used 50MB of data in a day. This means they can continue to use data but at a slower speed. From Wednesday 1 July new, re-signing and existing Business Customers using O2 Travel will have the option to continue experiencing full data speeds once they’ve used 50MB in a day. How? They’ll receive this text alert ‘O2: Just to let you know you’ve used 50MB from your O2 Travel daily allowance. You can continue to use O2 Travel but may experience slower data speeds until you get your new allowance at midnight UK time. If you’d like to continue using data at the same speed, text MOREDATA to 23336. This will reset your daily allowance and you’ll be charged another £1.66 ex VAT, which will last until midnight that day (UK time).’ O2 Travel offers our customers simplicity, value and transparency. As a general rule of thumb, if a customer wants to use more than 13MBs of data in Europe a day, then it’s worthwhile promoting O2 Travel to them. Slide27
Changes to low and high data caps in Europe
What’s happening?
Due to the changes to the standard roaming rates in Europe the price of data per MB is going down. For this reason the amount of data that a customer gets for the amount they pay on the
default
and
larger option
user caps goes up. Who’s affected?Customers on the default and larger option data user caps in EuropeNew/re-signing/existing customers?AllToday1 JulyDefaultData charged at 16.5p£33.34 for 210MBData charged at 14.5p£33.34 for 230MBLarger OptionData charged at 16.5p£100 for 630MB
