2018 Projects: IOM
Issue: IOM audiologists brought to the BOD issues with gaining reimbursement for their servicesFeared this would spread to other insurance carriers and could essentially shut the door of IOM practices
Action
: Asked SLPAHADB for a letter clarifying the position that IOM IS in the SOP for audiologists
Outcome
: Letter posted to CAA website for use, Sac Advocates discussed with Dept of Insurance
Recommend no legislative action at this time… wait and see!Slide3
2018 Projects: DCHS (CCS)
Issue: Years and years of complaints from audiologists trying to work with CCS; lack of communication, uncleaar reimbursement guidelines, diminishing payments, etc.
Action
: Sac Advocates identified key players in DCHS and set-up quarterly meetings. Currently attending are Marcia
Raggio
(SLPAHADB), Alison Grimes, Margaret Winter and myself.
Outcome
: In progress…

Looking Ahead to 2019
3PAs
The impact of third party administrators in CA is a concern of many. Please work with our Business Practices sub-committee (Marni Novick) to offer help/discuss this matter
Uncertain if this will become a legislative task
OTC hearing aids…
Remember, the FDA has not come out with any of the rules/
regs
for this new category… you CANNOT advertise/market OTC yet!
CAA will work with SLPAHADB to address the OTC landscape once the FDA rules are outSlide6
We Need YOU (Yes, I AM Looking at you…!)
CAA cannot represent all CA audiologists well without a diverse board (IOM)!Volunteer time as an SME (without these, no OA=no change to test procedures)
See something, say something! File complaints with SLPAHADB as needed…
Attend SLPAHADB meetings, use your voice!Slide7
But…But….But…
Absolutely can’t be convinced to donate time to your profession?
Then for goodness sakes at least…
CONTRIBUTE $$$ to our PAC!
