Monday morningChildren must bring luggage to school at 8:45am and leave it in the entrance area.
Journey – 37 miles (Approximately 1hr 30)No food or drink will be allowed on the coach;
so ensure they’ve had a good breakfast.Let me know if they get travel sick.They may bring a book and/or travel game but no electronic games, tablets or mobile phones (there is no phone signal at the centre)Slide6
On arrivalUnpack their things (please ensure EVERYTHING is labelled).Make up their own
beds.Eat lunch – all children required a packed lunch (please send in a bag which can be thrown away as we will not be able to bring anything home).Slide7
Activities and organisationChildren are arranged into 3 groups, not necessarily their friendship groups.Each group will have a member of staff to supervise and also an instructor allocated for each
activity.Two activities will take place each day (9:30-12:00 and 1:30-4:30).Meet all together in the morning, told what they’ll be doing and what clothes they should

Meal timeDelicious food and plenty of it!Children encouraged to try everything and are so hungry they don’t tend to be fussy!Table manners encouraged and we all sit together until the meal is finished.Children work in groups after each meal time to set up for the next meal time as well as help wash up and put dishes away

BedroomsChildren will be allocated their bedrooms before we depart. We will be the only group at Low Mill during the week. Boys’ bedrooms and girls’ bedrooms will be split into the main building/the wing. The adults’ rooms are located in the same area as the children’s rooms.Slide13
ResponsibilitiesThe children will be responsible for their own room, ensuring that:Beds are madeLitter is put in the bins provided
Outdoor footwear is left in the porchWet waterproofs are hung in the drying room to dryAny breakages are reported to Low Mill staff immediatelyRooms will be inspected each morning by Low Mill staff… AND SCORED!Slide14
ResponsibilitiesAs well as being responsible for the general tidiness of the building and the dormitories, groups will also be responsible for:Eating their meals together in the dining roomWashing and putting away all dishes after each meal
Leaving the dining room and washing up area clean and tidySetting the tables for the next mealCleaning and returning any borrowed equipmentRemoving bedding on the departure day to the laundry bins
Clearing all bedrooms on the departure day and taking luggage to entrance hall or porchSlide15
MedicinesAll medicines should be handed in to Miss Nuttall on Monday morning. Forms must have been completed and prescription labels clearly displayed. Any child with an inhaler needs to keep it with them in a small bag at all times. If they do not have their inhaler with them on an activity, Low Mill will not allow them to participate.Slide16
Dietary RequirementsIf your child has any special dietary requirements, please let us know so that we can notify Low Mill. We will encourage the children to eat what has been prepared.Slide17
Mobile PhonesThe children will not be allowed to take mobile phones/electrical items to Low Mill. This is because: there is no signal at the Centre; they may be lost or damaged; and we want the children to become more independent. However, the children will write a letter home to tell you about what they have been doing. Please can you provide an envelope with your address and stamp ready to be posted.Slide18

DepartureOld clothes are best – they will get mucky!Make sure everything is labelled as it will end up in a drying room with everyone else’s.Send a black sack or carrier bag to put dirty clothes into.Slide20
