BY. AMAR P. NARKHEDE. Routing and scheduling are preparatory steps. Actual production starts when permission is granted to commerce operations according to plans already laid down. Dispatching orders are issued in terms of their priority and work is assigned to operations. Dispatching, in effect determines by whom the work shall be done. Dispatching involves giving the necessary authority to start the work as per the schedules. Work orders and authorizations are issued to the production department to perform the work according to the planned sequence, using prescribed tools and predetermined scheduled. The dispatching department issues requisitions for materials and tools on the production order and checks to see that materials, parts and tools are available in time. Dispatching is irritating phase of PPC. It translates production plans into outputs. Orders are issued for the movement of materials, parts and tools to work centers as well as for inspection and recording of work done.
