healthcare in the U.S. America spends more per person on healthcare than any other country –– and does not have the best health outcomes. $9,237 annually per capita spending 1 in 3 adults are considered obese117 million people have at least one chronic disease Life-expectancy rate is declining ( 78.8 years, compared to an average of 82.2 years among comparable countries ) National health spending is projected to grow at an average rate of 5.6 percent per year for the next decade. Clearly, change is needed.
Responding to Patient Demand There is a tremendous demand for programs, models, and healthcare providers that do more than simply treat disease. A consumer-driven marketplace is spurring innovation and change that enable healthcare organizations to better meet patients’ needs.

A program to build this leader The Leadership Program in Integrative Healthcare at Duke University is changing healthcare leaders’ lives and the outcomes they achieve. Their model of Integrative Leadership is grounded in a mindful approach that develops participants’ ability to inspire action and teaches working models of Integrative Healthcare and the principles behind the success of integrative care.

A new leader for our organization Through extensive, personalized leadership training, a guided curriculum developed by Integrative Healthcare experts and mentorship from faculty from the Duke Fuqua School of Business on project planning, I expect to increase my ability to lead and the outcomes I achieve.
A Network of Integrative Leaders As part of the program, I’ll join a growing community of Integrative Leaders: 41 world-class faculty , including: Sanjiv Chopra , MD, Harvard professor of medicine, author, and speaker Tracy W. Gaudet , MD, Director of the Veterans Health Administration’s newly founded Office of Patient-Centered Care and Cultural Transformation Kevin Pho , MD, board-certified internal medicine physician, a national media commentator, and author N ationally-recognized speakers, such as: Ken Paulus, former CEO of Allina Health who implemented an integrative approach throughout the organization General Eric Schoomaker , former United States Army Lieutenant who served as the 42nd Surgeon General of the United States Army and Commanding General, United States Army Medical Command Ralph Snyderman, Chancellor Emeritus at Duke, whose vision helped create the Academic Consortium for Integrative Medicine and Health 85+ Program graduates changing the culture of healthcare
The next cohort begins in February 2018 and runs through February 2019. Applications are now being accepted. It is a one-year program that offers self-paced online coursework and, after six months, pairs each student with a faculty mentor from Duke’s Fuqua School of Business to create a business project for <<YOUR ORGANIZATION>>. The cost of the program is $25,000.
