Sin: doing something that is not fully good/ fully loving, & therefore goes against God. We do it

freely, knowing that it is wrong.Copy out the definition of sin above. Why are these examples of sin? Why is sin bad?

Even a sin that is “fun” to do, and doesn’t hurt anyone?venialmortalVenial Sin: SMALL not serious, not knowingly done, not completely deliberate eg someone dies from food poisoning because of problems with food storage you did not know aboutMortal Sin: SERIOUSserious, deliberate, knowingly done. (Mortal= death-dealing.)IN a table, give examples of 2 of each.Explain the difference between venial and mortal sins.Slide4

Sorrow & Guilt.

Sorrow – recognising that you have done wrong, being& are sorry. You genuinely want things to be different. Guilt – an heavy sense of regret, failure, low self-worth. Can lead to depression, moving away from God & others. Forgiveness makes the person free to live in peace again.Reconciliation means healing divisions (re-concile) - between yourself, God, people, the Church. After sinning, which do you need to feel more - sorrow or guilt? Why?What does experiencing forgiveness do for someone?Write down a definition of Reconciliation, & who needs to be reconciled.*Reflect on a time you hurt someone, & really felt bad about it. Did you go and seek forgiveness, from God or from them? Did it help? Slide5

Are sins defined by random rules that God has made up?

Or does sin go deeper than that?
