Who was William Pitt the Younger and in what context did he come to power in 1783 Who Was He Born in 1759 the second son of the Earl of Chatham also called William Pitt Very bright boy went to University of Cambridge aged 14 where he studied Classics. . What was the difference between the Whigs and the Tories?. At the End of the 18. th. Century. The political parties were just loose groupings who voted together in Parliament. They were not organised like modern parties – no structure, or conferences or local branches. They only existed in Parliament. . The Agrarian Revolution Notes. System Before. Before the Agrarian revolution food was produced using ‘the Open Field System’. Crops were grown on strips of land in large open fields. Tenant farmers rented strips of land from local landowner. Changes in the Textile Industry. Increasing demand. The rapid rise in population after 1750 meant there was a need for industries like textiles to produce much more. The Domestic system could not meet that demand.. . What was the impact of the French Revolution on British society?. Initial Reaction from Political Leaders. The early French Revolution appeared to stand for constitutional monarchy and a few extended rights. Many in Britain therefore offered it cautious approval.
