Alumni ProfileRimo DasMaster of Science in Business Analytics Career Please provide a brief overview of your career path since graduating from UCI.I’m currently working as a “Data Scientist” building data products using data mining and machine learningWhat do you see yourself doing in five or ten years?I see myself working as a strategic thought leader to help shape organization's business and technical strategies and build datadriven solutions to systematically drive efficient business decisions by bringing together quantitative rigor and business acumen. Your Time at UCI When did you attend UCI? August 2017 June 2018What program wereyou in? Master of Science in Business AnalyticsWhy did you choose to come to UCI?Apart from being one of the top ten public schools in the US, I knew UCI would provide me the perfect platform to learn and build my career at the forefront of the analytics frontier, with its datarich curriculum and renowned research center. More importantly, I really hoped to do my graduation from a school where I develop not only the professionalskill set of quantitative research and business problemsolvingbut personal skills in communication

Reflections What made you decide to pursuea graduate degree?I'd realized I reached that point in my career where I couldn't advance further without forming the right balance of business judgment and statistical skills. I refused to limit myself and thus, the graduate program at UCI was my answer. I knew I could advance my education and continue my career growth as UCI prepares me to lead a digitally driven world. (Examples Podcast: Happier with Gretchen Rubin; Book: Who Moved Cheese)How to Win Friends & Influence People by Dale CarnegieWhat advice do you have for a new graduate student?Whatever you have a yearningfor, it’s for all yours to choose, but be patient, you’d be amazed.What are your hobbies/passions outside of your work/research? love being outdoors, exploring new places, meeting people and trying something new which gives me broader perspective of the world. I find being outside is a great way to stress as it gives me a new sense of perception, and particularly highlights the importance of living in the moment.
