THEIR HELPSEEKING BEHAVIOR IN A RURAL AREA IN TAMILNADUCROSS SECTIONAL STUDY DRARAJALAKSHMI MD PSYCHIATRY DEPT FINAL YEAR INTRODUCTION Depression is one of the most common mental illnesses affecting more than 300 million people across the world. Five risk factors and three key symptoms of OSA have been found in a sample of truck drivers on UK roads, to greater extent that for estimates in the general male population. The strongest indicator of undiagnosed OSA is bed partners reporting witnessed apnoeas, in the truck driver population this was reported by 7.4% suggesting a high potential for undiagnosed OSA in this population. This figure is lower than Swedish and Australian studies who used over night recording to find 17% and 15.8% respectively also in truck drivers (Carter et al. 2003, Howard et al. 2004). However, in the current study 20.3% of participants reported not having a bed partner, as such witnessed apnoeas may be under reported. . January 22, 2012 1:00 – 2:30 PM Eastern Time. . There are several difficulties with doing research to compare cultures. First, there is the simple problem of language. A . signficant. part of how we interpret abnormal . behaviour. is how we talk about it and describe the symptoms. If the researchers rely on translation/interpretation, then there may be errors. This is why a process called "back translation" is often used - that is, the translation into the language of researcher is then translated back to the language of the participant/patient by a different interpreter to establish the credibility of the translation. Other concerns are that there is researcher bias based on stereotyping, cultures may not be trustful of outsiders coming in to discuss their abnormal . Landon Marshall, . Pharm.D. ., Matt Hill, . Is there any recent (<10 years) evidence from testing proxy populations (e.g. pregnant women/blood donors/emergency department attendees) or from sub-populations (regional studies/older age groups) that HCV RNA prevalence in the general population could be > 1%?.
