Earth based scientists!One of the most modern influential geologists is a man by the name of Alfred Wegener. He developed the theory of continental drift. And thus laid the groundwork for modern plate tectonics knowledge.
The man commonly referred to as the father of modern geology (even though he’s from the late 1600’s) is a man named
Nicholas Steno
he discovered that fossils were deposited in the ground in an earlier time period (they were previously thought to grow in the ground naturally). That allowed the evolution of the theory that the earth surface had layers and led to the basic understanding of basic geologic structures Slide3
Space nuts!Arguably one of the most famous astronomers of all time is the man with an extremely funky name, Galileo Galilei. He is famously the man who invented the telescope, allowing the study of the stars, and the cosmos. Even though we now study the stars with satellites that would make him scream “WITCHCRAFT!”
This era’s Galileo is a name named
Stephen Hawking.
He is what is known as theoretical cosmology and physics. He works mainly in theory, specifically how the universe came into being and the many forms of energies in the universe, including, dark matter,

boson particle(the god particle) and string theory. Even for a man suffering from severe
neuro

Many different fields!There are numerous different fields of study in what is essentially the ENTIRE UNIVERSE! The one that is a very broad term in the fields that deal with the universe is cosmology. Which is the study of the universe as a whole One of my favorite subfields, just because of the name, is cosmogony. Which is the study of how the universe came into existence. They can also be called theologists!Now if you’re more a terrestrial person then the field of study known as Geology. This is the study of the earth and its many systems and structures. Especially plate tectonics, layers of the earth, and the many minerals.Slide5
