Applicants must have caddied, successfully and regularly, for a minimum of two years and are expected to caddie at their sponsoring club the year they apply for the scholarship. 2. preparatory courses and are required to take the ACT. 3. nancial need: Applicants must clearly have a need for Þ nancial assistance. 4. Applicants must be outstanding in character, integrity and leadership.annually. The Scholarship Committee will interview Þ nalists and the Þ nal selection rests with the Committee. The Chick Evans Caddie Scholarship program was started by one of golf's greatest amateurs, Charles "Chick" Evans Jr., of Chicagthe game as a caddie, gained worldwide fame in 1916 when he became the Þ rst golfer to win both the U.S. Amateur and U.S. Open the same year. Because Chick Evans insisted on preserving his amateur status, he directed that any money he received from golf be put toward caddie The Þ rst two Evans Scholars enrolled at Northwestern University in the fall of 1930.
