TechniquesMost Common:
Painting
On a rock’s surface, red (from iron oxide)or black pigment(from charcoal) was either brushed, finger/hand painted, or smeared with the hides of animals.
Engraving
On softer rock surfaces tracing could be done with just the finger , however, on hard surfaces tools such as flint blades might have been used to remove part of the rock’s surface leaving an engraved image. Slide4
