Cycles of Energy and Matter: Transcript
Everything is cycled throughout the planet Everything in nature is cycled throughout the entire planet Since matter and energy cannot be created or destroyed it is changed or transformed into many different things. This . powerpoint. will show you the basics of dark matter and dark energy . Their place in the universe . By Jordan . Ilori. . DARK MATTER. Dark matter is a type of matter hypothesized in astronomy and cosmology to account for a large part of the mass that appears to be missing from the universe. Dark matter cannot be seen directly with telescopes; evidently it neither emits nor absorbs light or other electromagnetic radiation at any significant level. Instead, the existence and properties of dark matter are inferred from its gravitational effects on visible matter, radiation, and the large-scale structure of the universe. According to the Planck mission team, and based on the standard model of cosmology, the total mass–energy of the known universe contains 4.9% ordinary matter, 26.8% dark matter and 68.3% dark energy. Thus, dark matter is estimated to constitute 84.5% of the total matter in the universe and 26.8% of the total content of the universe.. Lesson two: Soils. Time to observe and learn. You will examine three types of soil:. Clay. Sand. Loam. You will need to read and follow the instructions carefully. After examining the soil types:. What are some ways we can classify soils?. Matter . is anything that has mass and takes up space. . Ex: air, plastic, wood, water, cloth…. . Matter has 2 kinds of properties:. . 1. . Physical. – . oxygen is a gas at room temperature; water . and Matter Exchange in the Biosphere. Unit A. Systems. Objects . or . groups of objects . that has a relationship to something else. Open . Energy and matter cross the systems boundaries. humans, trees. &. Matter and Energy. . Main Idea. You will be able to . demonstrate. . an understanding of the properties of matter and energy and their interactions.. [8 questions on STAAR]. Matter has measurable physical properties. . Objectives:. Identify and describe the flow of nutrients in each biogeochemical cycle. . Explain the impact that humans have on the biogeochemical cycles. .. What happens to energy in an ecosystem?. Biosphere: All life on earth and parts of earth in which life exists (land, water and atmosphere). Studying Our Living planet. Science of Ecology. Study of interactions of living things, their surroundings or environments. Matter. -. anything that has mass and takes up space. . . Properties of Matter . -Matter can have many different properties or characteristics. -. Chemistry. . is the study of the properties of matter and how it changes. Think!. What is a cycle? What are some cycles you know about in the world we live in?. What is a cycle?. A single complete execution or a periodically repeated phenomenon.. What does that mean?. Single – it happens one time. Systems . Societies. Sustainability. Recap: . e. nergy flows, matter cycles. Recap: energy flows, matter cycles. Recap. What are the 3 parts or “spheres” of the Earth that are abiotic?. Parts of these 3 “spheres” make up the biotic part of the Earth. What is the biotic part called?. Matter and Energy What is matter? Matter and Energy What is matter? It's what everything that occupies space and has mass is made of And everything like that is made out of chemical elements There are 92 naturally occurring chemical elements, and a number of synthetic ones Honors Chemistry Matter and Energy MATTER is anything that has mass and volume. Do you know ALL the states of matter? Kinetic Molecular Theory of Matter Assumptions: All matter consists of particles, such as, atoms, molecules, formula units. Matter and Energy What is matter? Matter and Energy What is matter? It's what everything that occupies space and has mass is made of And everything like that is made out of chemical elements There are 92 naturally occurring chemical elements, and a number of synthetic ones Honors. Chemistry. Guiding Questions. Why do substances boil or freeze at different temperatures?. . Why do we put salt on the roads in the winter? . Why does sweating cool us? . What is energy? . How do we measure energy? .
