From HOD-ME’s DeskWelcome to Department of Mechanical Engineering, Dr. Sudhir Chandra Sur Degree Engineering College, one of the front-liner colleges of the JIS Group. Mechanical Engineering is one of the most fundamental branches of Engineering. The study of Mechanical Engineering deals with the design, manufacture, installation, commissioning & maintenance of any machinery or equipment that one may think of – and such is the pervasiveness of Mechanical Engineering along with
its allied disciplines
.
Our team consists of eminent faculties a balance combination of experience and youth. The seniors are guiding the juniors who are aspiring to be doctorates and are dedicated to continuously serve the student community.
We encourage research and development in latest technology. We are committed to the development of students and faculties. Our faculties share their knowledge acquired from various national and international conferences and equip the students to compete with international standards. Prof Dr. (Col) Probhas BoseSlide3
IntroductionMechanical Engineering is one of the most diversified disciplines in traditional core engineering fields. This is one of the most vibrant Departments of the college providing insight of engineering and technology of machinery, manufacturing, plant maintenance, power plant, steel plant, defense, transport & aviation, space craft and other interdisciplinary areas to the budding engineers. We are proud to have state of the art laboratories fully equipped and enriched with modern machines, equipment, apparatus and mechanical workshop catering the services to other departments also. Slide4
IntroductionThe primary need of students is to get a job and that is why most of the students choose engineering for their career. As this is an academic institute so its improvement can be done based on the quality of the teaching. Best teaching quality can produce best students. Best students can compete with outsider students for their jobs. In this competitive market, it is really hard to get a job until and unless a student gathers strong technical knowledge. Student will gather technical knowledge from our faculties. The main responsibility of faculties is to deliver good technical lecture to the students.
The Department aims at producing employable engineers who are capable of contributing meaningfully to the society.Slide5

The students undergo training programmes and internship in various industries / organizations like Burn Standard, various Railway Workshops, Ordnance Factories, Indian Oil, SAIL, Pinnacle Honda, and industrial units in Kolkata, Durgapur, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad and industrial cities / township in India during vacation period. They are also encouraged to join defence forces for start-up projects to generate employment after graduation.Training for Industrial Exposure to StudentsSlide8
The Department has a small but extremely active group of research & industry experienced seniors and who continuously inspire young faculty members. All the staff share a passion for a range of new and emergent topics in mechanical engineering. Faculty members effectively organize seminars, conferences on emerging technologies throughout the year. They also have a number of research publications and conference papers to their credit and thus fresh and inquisitive minds of students are nurtured to inculcate the habit of researches, innovations and paper publications. Students are also encouraged to go for higher studies, appear for UPSC and GATE examinations.Research & Academic ActivitiesSlide9
