The Dream Precognition Project Update #3 April 2012 This update is going out to everyone who has expressed an interest in our research into precognitive dream experiences. This update summarise s what we've done so far, then invite s you to take part in our latest project : The Perrott - Warrick Dream Registry . What have you done so far? We have gathered a panel of over 100 volunteers who are interested in precognitive dream research, and conducted t hree studies. What have you found so far? We have completed two studies of psychological processes in precognitive dream experience s . One looked at selective memory, and found that people tend to remember 'confirmed' dreams more than dreams that are not confirmed by later events. The second looked at people's ability to find correspondences between a dream diary and a diary of life eve nts, and found that those individuals who reported greater belief in precognitive dreams were also better able to find correspondences. To look at the psi (paranormal) question , as you may remembe r we conducted an online dream precognition study with our panel of volunteers . This study did not find any evidence that participants' dreams were related to the randomly - selected target video that they were sent at the end of each week. What's next? We are well aware that the conditions for the online dream study were quite artificial, and for our next study we'd like to move to a more realistic scenario. So we are excited to announce that we are opening a dream registry that will run for one year, and we are inviting our volunteer panel to take part in that project . We are calling this The Perrott - Warrick Dream Registry , after the funding b ody supporting our rese a r ch. What's a dream registry? It's a place where people can send descriptions of their precognitive dreams as soon as they wake up . It serves as a sto re for their precognitive dream report . Later, if an event happens that was predicted by their dream, the participants send in a description of that event. So there are two steps: 1. Send in the precognitive dream report; 2. Later, describe any confirming event that occurs . What sort of dreams are you interested in? Our goal is to collect description s of any dream you think may be precognitive, most importantly before the predicted event happens. Later, if the event happens, we'd like you t o send us a description of it. Your precognitive dream could be about e vents from your own life, or world/news events. What will you do with my dream and event report s ? Your anonymous dream and event report s will be stored, and later we will investigate various questions including: what are the charact eristics of precognitive dreams? What are the similarities and differences between the dream and the confirming event? At the end of the project, we hope to pro vide the collection of anonymous precogniti ve dreams and confirming events on a project website. W e will only include those dream and event descriptions that we have explicitly been given permission to share. I'm interested - how do I find out more information about taking part ? Thanks so much - w e're delighted that you are interested ! Please read the Information sheet that was sent to you along with this newsletter, to find out more. Dr Caroline Watt Milan Valášek
