Vaqueros were the Spanish cattleman. They were assigned jobs, some of which included, roping, horse breaking, riding, herding, and branding. They became so experienced with the tasks, that they made a sport out of it. The sport soon became well-known to the world, and people who weren’t even cowboys wanted to compete in the challenges.. They eventually traveled into New Mexico teaching the Pueblo Indians how to ride and rope. Today there are many influences from “cowboy” culture. . COWBOYS.
