Population Analysis: Transcript

Bader Charge amp Bader volume Richard Bader from McMaster University developed an intuitive way of dividing molecules into atoms called the Quantum Theory of Atoms in Molecules QTAIM His definition of an atom is based purely on the electronic charge density Bader uses what are called zero flux surfaces to divide atoms A zero flux surface is a 2D surface on which the charge density is a minimum perpendicular to the surface Typically in molecular systems the charge density reaches a minimum between atoms and this is a natural place to separate atoms from each other . Perry, Petros & students. Objective of our analysis. Based on the output of ADMIXTURE, we want to quantify the amount of shared ancestry between two populations. . Even more, we would like to answer questions of the form: “How much ancestry is shared between population X and Y, on top of the ancestry that population X shares with population Z?”. Diana C. . Very few questions required. Comparison of means (analysis of variance). Many questions critical to the study of environmental science:. How many people can the Earth support?. Will the population level off or continue to grow until there is a crash?. “… population increases in a geometric ratio, while the means of subsistence increases in an arithmetic ratio …In this state of things there will be no remedy; the wholesome checks of vice and misery (which have hitherto kept this principle within bounds) will have been done away … hatred, violence, war and bloodshed will be the infallible consequence; and from the pinnacle of happiness, peace, refinement and social advantage we shall be hurled once more into a profounder abyss of misery, want, and barbarism that ever by the sole operation of the principle of population!" . -.
