What Doe s a Behavioural Interventionist Do ? Roles and Responsibilities: A Behavioural Interventionist (BI) works one - on - one with a child implementing an individualized B ehavioural P lan of I ntervention (BPI). BIs provide this sup port in collaboration with and under the direction of a qualified Behavioural Consultant. A BI ’ s job is to teach the child specific program goals as outlined in the BPI in home, school, and/or community settings. Some of the duties that one might responsible for when working as a BI include:  U sing teaching methods to target specific program goals as directed by a Behavioural Consultant and implementing teaching programs and oth er interventions as outlined on the child’s behavioural plan of intervention  C ollecting data, monitoring, recording and reviewing client progress with team members  Maintaining an organized environment for intervention; including room organization and prope r storage of materials and data sheets  Attending and participating in regularly scheduled team meetings, training sessions, and worksho ps  P articipating in regular videotaping of behavioural intervention sessions with the child, as well as shadow and traini ng sessions with Behavioural Consultant s  R esponding appropriately to oral and written feedback from the Behavioural Consultant s by making necessary changes in order to follow through with suggestions made  Collaborating with team members and liaising with p ersonnel from various agencies and disciplines (e.g., SLP, OT, preschool and elementary school personnel)  P reparing materials as needed for a child’s program Qualifications :  Fluent in English (knowledge of other language(s) is an asset)  Experience workin g with young children  Applicants in Psychology, Special Education, Early Childhood Education, and Speech & Language Patholog y are encouraged to apply  Candidates are required to be self - motivated, extremely reliable, enthusiastic, and possess ex cellent comm unication skills  A car and a valid driver ’s license are a great asset  Mini mum age for applicants is 19  Commitment of 10 hours per week fo r at least an 8 - month period  Clear Criminal Record Check completed within the last 6 months
