Fact or Myth
Everyone is doing it!!!
Don't believe everything you hear…it may seem like everyone’s doing it, but in reality, less than half (48%) of all high school students have ever had sex. People lie and exaggerate and can talk a good game when it comes to sex. But in the end, it doesn't matter who's telling the truth or not. The only truth that matters is what's best for you.
MYTHSlide2
Fact or Myth
Men need to have sex more than women
Guys may have a reputation for always thinking about sex, but, just like all stereotypes, that’s not necessarily true. Think about it—you may love playing soccer, but sometimes, you'd just rather go to the movies. In fact, 2 out of 3 guys say they’d rather have a relationship but no
sex!!!

Fact or Myth
You can catch sexually transmitted infections (STIs) from oral sex
Don't let anyone tell you that unprotected oral sex is 100% safe sex. Going down, giving head, blow jobs, going downtown, whatever you call it - if you do it or it's done on you, you could be at risk for getting an STD.
FACTSlide4
Fact or Myth
If you have an STI, you’ll see it or know it
No, don't believe it.
Many
STIs (including the deadliest ones) are silent. They don't cause any symptoms at all. So it's not a case of "I'll believe it when I see it." Unless, of course, you have microscopic, X-ray, DNA-detecting vision
. You and your partner should get tested if you’re concerned about STI’s.
MYTHSlide5
Fact or Myth
Only slutty girls and cheating guys catch STIs
YOU WISH!!!
19 million new infections are diagnosed every year. Not everyone is a player. In fact, the nicest, most innocent, sweetest, smartest, coolest, "cleanest", straightest, loyal, non-cheating types have
STIs.

Fact or Myth
Plastic wrap is a good substitute if you don’t have a condom.
Plastic wrap is
not
a good substitute for a condom. Most wraps have tiny holes.
Remember the diffusion lab you did in Science class??? Substances that are small enough (viruses, bacteria) can diffuse across baggies, plastic wrap, etc.
MYTHSlide7
Fact or Myth
Some STIs can be transmitted just by skin-to-skin contact (no sex necessary!)
While semen and blood can spread some
STIs
, others like herpes and syphilis can be spread with skin on skin contact. For example, when herpes flares up, an active sore appears. When this sore comes into contact with your skin or other moist areas like the mouth, throat, and areas with cuts or rashes, it can spread.
It can also be spread before the blisters actually form.

Fact or Myth
A woman on the birth control pill cannot catch HIV
Birth control pills prevent babies, not sexually-transmitted
infections!!!
MYTHSlide9
Fact or Myth
Someone worried about a condom breaking can use two condoms (one over another)
You'd think so, but no.
First - ouch. The CDC and the condom makers warn against this idea of 2 condoms. Why? It's about friction. The condoms rub against each other during sex and increase the chance of one or both breaking or slipping off.

Fact or Myth
“Doing the Dew” or drinking Mountain Dew is a way to prevent pregnancy
The rumor that ingredients in Mountain Dew (and other popular sodas) lower guys' sperm count has been around for years, but the simple truth is that Doing the Dew doesn't do anything to sperm. Drinking soda isn't going to do anything but maybe give you a cavity.
MYTHSlide11
Fact or Myth
The birth control pill must be taken
consistenly
to be effective
Birth control pills are made up of a series of hormones that must build up in your body to be effective. The pills are meant to be taken in a specific order at about the same time every day. When you skip a day or skip a non-placebo pill, it’ll alter the effectiveness of the birth control.
