Three questions
What does God’s character reveal about
justice
?
What then does justice look like in
action
?
What is to be our
posture
as we live out lives that display
Godly Justice?Slide3
Godly Justice
“Godly Justice is the pursuit of a
lifestyle
of grace, which actively seeks out those in our communities who are the
weak
, the
poor
, the
powerless
, the
oppressed
… in order to break down barriers of
disadvantage
,
segregation
,
abuse
,
manipulation
, and
oppression
.
This also is a
simultaneous call
for those who are the
strong
, the
rich
, the
powerful
, and the
unconstrained
… to use the grace they have received to make Godly Justice a reality. It is also a call to hold those accountable who have abused such priviledge and power.
All
of this
must take place in the reality of the
Gospel
!

LUKE 19:1
He entered Jericho and was passing through.
2
And behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus. He was a chief tax collector and was rich.
3
And he was seeking to see who Jesus was, but on account of the crowd he could not, because he was small in stature.
4
So he ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him, for he was about to pass that way.
5
And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for I must stay at your house today.”
6
So he hurried and came down and received him joyfully.
7
And when they saw it, they all grumbled, “He has gone in to be the guest of a man who is a sinner.”
8
And Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor. And if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I restore it fourfold.”
9
And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, since he also is a son of Abraham.
10
For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”Slide6

Justice is

We need to understand,
Justice is actually not a thought, an idea, an action
… as so much as it is a Person; namely, the Person of Jesus Christ the Lord.Slide11

2 Corinthians 3:17-18
Now
the
Lord
is
the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is
freedom

And
we all, with unveiled face,
[as we are] beholding
the glory of the Lord,
[we] are
being transformed into the
same
image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.Slide12
