JLBC Staff Program Summary - Federal Funds in Dept. of Emergenc Ï­ Program Oǀerǀieǁ As the state agency responsiďle for the Arizona National Guard and coordinating the state emergency response, the Department of Emergency and s and edžpends a significant amount of Federal Funds. These grants coǀer costs associated ǁith salary, facility maintenance, planning, preparedness, and JLBC Staff Program Summary - Federal Funds in Dept. of Emergenc Ï® Apart from grants, DEMA receiǀes of ǀarious materials ďelonging to the Air Force, Naǀy, Royal Air Force ;United KingdomÍ¿, Singapore Peace Vanguard, and other Department of Defense sponsored entities at Camp Naǀajo in Bellea storage and training facility that ǁas transferred from the Department of Defense to the Arizona National Guard in ϭϵϵϯ as part of the Base Realignment and Closure program. Camp Naǀajo is currently the only National Guard facility in the country to store eƋuipment that ines, grain, munitions, and other supplies for training. The storage facilities at the Camp include cement ďunkers and large open area ǁarehouses. ϮϬϭ8, reǀenue from storage totaled $ϭϯ,ϳϳϯ,ϮϬϬ and is estimated to total $Ï­Ï°,6ϰϵ,ϳϬϬ in FY ϮϬϭϵ. These monies of the Camp. A.R.S. § Ï®6-ϭϱϮ alloǁs DEMA to utilize the Camp Naǀajo Fund monies for the operation and maintenance of National GuardNaǀajo are met. The state match for these monies is funded ďy $ϳϯϱ,ϬϬϬ from the General Fund operating ďudget appropriation, $Ï­,ϰϯ8,ϵϬϬ from the Emergency Management Matching Funds line item appropriation, $ϳϯϱ,ϱϬϬ of the Nuclear Emergency Management Fund appropriation, and $Ï°,Ï­6ϳ,ϵϬϬ from the local goǀernment suď-recipients. The largest emergency grant receiǀed ďy DEMA is the Emergency Management Performance Grant. This grant proǀides monies that DEMA either edžpends or passes on to local goǀernments for planning, training, and other preparation for natural disasters and other emergencies. In FY ϮϬϭ8, DEMA receiǀed $ϱ,ϯϭϵ,ϵϬϬ for the Emergency Management Performance Grant. Another grant category ǁhich DEMtate Homeland Security Grant Program. The Arizona Department of Homeland Security receiǀes these funds from the federal goǀernment and then distriďutes them to counties, ǁho in turn contract ǁith DEMA for first responder training. In FY ϮϬϭ8, DEMA receiǀed $ϯϳϯ,ϯϬϬ in State Homeland Security Grants monies for their first responder training classes. also receiǀes Federal Funds froion Grant Program, Interagency Hazardous Materials Training, and the Pre-Disaster Mitigation Grant. In FY ϮϬϭ8, these grants total $ϳϯϮ,ϱϬϬ, including $Ϯϵ6,ϳϬϬ for Hazard Mitigation, $Ï­Ï®8,ϭϬϬ for Interagency

Hazardous Materials Training, and $ϯϬϳ,ϳϬϬ for Pre-Disastough the monies for these programs are federal, DEMA administers the programs for the state and passes monies to eligiďle local goǀernments ǁhile retaining less than ϯ% for administratiǀe costs. Each of these grants has a matching reƋuirement. The specific purpose of each grant is outlined ďeloǁ:Hazard Mitigation Grant – Monies for the mitigation of hazards to communities folloǁing a Presidential major Interagency Hazardous Materials Training – Funding to increase the numďer of hazardous materials training indiǀiduals hoǁ to respond to hadents and incidents. Pre-Disaster Mitigation – Funding for projects that reduce the oǀerall risk to the population and structures from future hazard eǀents ǁhile also reducing reliance on federects that ǁould ďe eligiďle for funding under these grants ǁould include JLBC Staff Program Summary - Federal Funds in Dept. of Emergenc ϯ A final category of federal grand for the remoǀal of ǁreckage or deďris, emergency protectiǀe measures, emergency transportation, emergency communications, and the permanent , DEMA receiǀed $ϱϵϯ,ϬϬϬ from this grant program ǁith all ďut approdžimately ϯ% for admuted to local goǀernments.
