IN SÃO TOMÉ AND PRÍNCIPE Output 1: The Entrepreneurship Curriculum Programme (ECP) is ready to be implemented in the second cycle of general and technical secondary education, covering the 10th and 11th grades
The entrepreneurship program is ready and approved for testing in the 10th and the 11th grade.
Members of the Technical Working Group are able to develop and implement the ECP.
The entrepreneurship teacher's guide, the evaluation guidelines, and the student textbooks have been developed for testing in the 10th and the 11th grade.
The monitoring and the evaluation tools are available.
Output 2: The ECP is introduced in general and technical secondary education
The in-service teacher training program have been developed and implemented.
About 120 entrepreneurship teachers have been trained and are teaching entrepreneurship with quality assurance.
6 secondary schools have carried out the pilot phase of ECP for three years.
About 1,500 students have completed two years of entrepreneurship learning.
The private sector participates actively in ECP activities in pilot schools.
Monitoring and evaluation system are in place.
Output 3: The Entrepreneurship Curriculum Programme is ready for nationwide rollout
National policy for introducing ECP, including budget allocation and standards have been created.
The public university of São Tomé and Príncipe has integrated ECP in the teachers' education curriculum.
10 university professors have been graduated. This project is directly linked to the government's objectives and strategy of promoting a cross-sectoral business culture and of better preparing young people for future careers, promoting their employability and self-employment. The main focus of the project is to raise the qualification of the youth in São Tomé and Principe through the practical learning of entrepreneurial attitudes, skills and knowledge. They will acquire competencies such as creativity, identification of opportunities, planning and resource management, teamwork and tolerance, self-confidence and critical thinking, problem solution and perseverance, understanding quality and production processes etc. The Ministry of Education will introduce entrepreneurship as a practical subject in the 10th and 11th grades in the secondary education and vocational training. Training workshops for teachers, directors, delegates and trainers;
Workshops and system of monitoring and evaluation;
Project equipment and project activities. The private sector plays an active role in the development and the implementation of ECP. Entrepreneurs meet students and share their experience and entrepreneurial visions. Through technical visits, students are able to observe the real environment of a fully-functioning company where theoretical elements are applied in practice. The private sector can also support the funding of the ECP, and provide technical inputs to activities.
