What is Maths like at Wood Ley Primary School? At Wood Ley, we follow the White Rose Scheme of Learning from the early years through to year 6. We are incredibly proud of the maths learning that takes place in our school and recently we achieved 89% in the KS2 SATs, which we are incredibly pleased with! We aim to make our maths lessons interesting and exciting with a mix of different learning resources and experiences.
Active Maths has become a big part of what we do at Wood Ley too. We don’t just believe that maths needs to be taught at desks in the classroom because maths is everywhere! We aim to take our lessons outside when we can and the children absolutely love this type of learning!<br>

What is White Rose Maths? White Rose Maths is an organisation that provides maths resources and Schemes of Learning for pupils of all ages. The Schemes of Learning (SOL) outline yearly frameworks that break down what children need to learn during each week of each term to master the learning objectives laid out by the National Curriculum. Resources that are aligned with the White Rose Maths frameworks are designed to be enjoyable, engaging and varied, to help pupils develop a love of learning and work towards mastery with differentiated resources.
But what defines White Rose Maths more than their resources and frameworks is their approach to teaching maths. At the heart of their resources and frameworks is the motto “Everyone Can Do Maths: Everyone Can!” — a slogan that we wholeheartedly agree with!<br>

Maths home learning | Home learning | White Rose Maths (whiteroseeducation.com) Since the pandemic, White Rose have continued to provide home learning activities for children. The link above will take you to a range of videos and resources that you could use at home to support the learning being done at school.<br>

Maths at home If your child is in KS1 or KS2 they will have access to the best times table program available! Times Table Rockstars is proven to improve children’s fluency in times tables. Every child has a login and can play it either on the free app or on a web browser. Many KS2 children also has a login for the wonderful Prodigy Maths game. Again, this can be played on the app or through a web browser!<br>
