What we will share with you today We will look at three different sections to this presentation: Who we are and what we do How we do it What to keep in mind Organisation at a Glance HOEDSPRUIT SAPS Operational partners: SAPS Specialist Units (NIU, Trio TT, CIU, TRT etc.) GKEPF (Greater Kruger Environmental Protection Foundation) Neighbouring CPF’s and FW’s Provincial Services (EMS, Fire Dept., Traffic Dept., Disaster Management etc) ORGANISATIONAL DETAILS Who we are Established Entity Function entirely on voluntary capacity Legal identity – Voluntary Association Established and approved Constitution Falls under regional CPF A voluntary group or union is a group of individuals who enter into an agreement, usually as volunteers, to form a body to accomplish a purpose Recognizes as a legal entity Structural Pillars Originally, Farmwatch functioned under 3 different pillars In the last 12 months, we have added on 2 different pillars and thus now function on a 5 pillar basis. Structural Pillars General Membership Anyone and everyone is the Greater Hoedspruit Region is welcome to join Hoedspruit Farmwatch as a general member. This requires a monthly donation of R50 per family per month or R600 per year. In return they are added onto a bulk SMS system (through bulksms.co.za) They are allowed to install the general emergency channel onto their radio’s to call for assistance when required Receive benefits of trained Reaction Unit Patrol Drivers Our primary pillar is our Patrols Greater Hoedspruit is divided up into 12 different sectors, based on roads and location. Residents from each sector patrol within their sector only. Every night there are at least 2 volunteers driving patrol in each sector (total of at approx 10-20 vehicles on the road in entire area each evening) Approximately 230 volunteers involved Daily Patrol Schedule Every day the patrol duties for that day are sent out to all whatsapp groups to remind everyone who is on duty as well as to let others know who will be patrolling in the other sectors . Liverpool and Town have their own duty roster Reaction Unit Our Reaction Unit is growing every week. The Reaction Unit are responsible for reaction to any specific emergency or incident in the area. Receive continuous training Are equipped with resources to do the job We propose that members join shooting clubs together, to establish confidence in each
