slide4. DARA Model Robert Morris University’s Experience-based Learning (EbL) Model Robert Morris University’s Experience-based Learning (EbL) Model is a standardized process for the development and delivery of experiential activities through the fulfillment of four steps:
Design: Experiences are created with intentionality to connect with the course learning outcomes and actualize the full design, act, reflect, acknowledge (DARA) process.
Act: Students learn through immersion in an experience that relates to a real-life situation.
Reflect: Students are provided opportunities to cogitate on the learning outcomes of the experience.
Acknowledge: Students are provided opportunities to connect how the transferable skills gained or honed in the experience will apply to future academic, personal, and/or professional endeavors.<br>

Clients are found at incubators or through referrals
Many are start ups, small businesses or not-for-profits
Projects relate to students’ majors, examples include:
Marketing Strategy
Social Media Plan
Creating healthy recipes for specific medical conditions
Building websites
Space Planning, including floor plans
Event Planning for fundraisers
Designing marketing and branding material<br>
slide8. Mandatory Internships All students are required to complete an internship prior to graduating
Most majors require 100 hours in the 10 week quarter
Culinary 180 hours
Nursing and Surgical Technology have multiple rotations required in their curriculum
Some flexibility built in
Students can use a current employer
Must complete a project outside of their normal job
Students can sub an Integration Project for their internship<br>
