What is Situational Awareness? Situational Awareness: Fully and comprehensively understanding one’s surroundings, environment, and situation. Situational Awareness includes, but is not limited to, recognizing:
The current level of danger
Obstacles in the way of escape
Exit locations
Means of protection
Fire exits
Tornado shelter(s)<br>

Formulate Your Plan Every place you go, ask yourself:
Where could I run to safety?
Where could I hide & barricade?
How can I prepare to fight/defend yourself?
If a person has at least thought about what they would do in an emergency situation, they have a much greater chance of surviving that emergency<br>

If you see something, say something In an emergency, always call 911

Run! Get out, quickly. Get away, quickly
The time to get away is RIGHT NOW!!
Call 9-1-1 as soon as it is safe to do so. Leave your belongings behind.
This is your best option.<br>

Hide & Barricade HIDE
Move to the safest place you can find; this will vary by location
Room with a lockable door, if possible; door wedges, etc.
Lights out
Remain quiet; phones silenced
Hide behind items in the room, not underneath
Text 911, get the information out
BARRICADE:
Block the door, using furniture, file cabinets, etc.<br>

Fight! Fight for your life!
Do not fight fair--- use improvised weapons, gouge eyes, kick, pull hair---do whatever you need to do to survive!
Work as a team when possible.<br>

Preventing Violence on Campus Targeted violence is preventable!
If you think someone is exhibiting concerning behavior, it is okay to speak up in order to prevent an emergency from occurring
