Senior Member Elevation What are Senior Members?<br>
Senior Members – aka SM Howard Wolfman is the 2025 A&A Committee Chair
Not all advancments are handled by A&A e.g. Fellows
SM Process:
Nomination – can self nominate or be have a nominator
Requires 3 references – self nominated
Nominated – requires 2 references, nominator is 3rd reference
All references and nominator MUST be SM
A&A SM Review Panel reviews all SM nominations for SM
Review Panel meets a minimum of 6 times per year<br>

Senior Member Qualifications • must be Member Grade or higher
- Fellow
- Life Member
• Minimum – 10 years Professional Experience
• 5 years Significant Performance<br>

Available on R3 website
REMEMBER – 10 years of Professional Experience – recommend dates in Month/Year format - keep concise – 3 – 6 lines optimum
5 years of Significant Performance – IEEE SM Webpages have details - detail specific Significant Performance
Update your IEEE Member Profile will all of your education!<br>

Self Nominated – 3 references
Nominated – 2 additional references, Nominator is a reference

SM – Nomination Submitted Must be submitted NO LATER than 1 week before Review Panel Meeting - Next Review Panel – June 28, 2025 - Deadline for applications – June 21, 2025 11:59 PM UTC-5
Typically are notified within 2 weeks of the Review Panel via email, your nominator is also notified
If elevated, plaque, etc will be sent some time later<br>

SM – Nomination Not Awarded Don’t panic – look at why your nomination was not approved
Typical reasons not enough time – Remember 10 years & 5 years
Address the reasons and re-apply<br>

SM – Other Information Nominators can select which entity receives credit if the nominee is elevated - Section members elevated earn $10 for the section
SM is recognition of member’s work
SM renew membership at higher rates than lower grades
SM can be good mentors for students and younger members
SM process helps Section Members know each other better<br>
