The DMU and LPT ‘Strengthening Conversations for Change’ Courses<br>
slide3. The Rationale for the Development of the SCC Courses Agencies are supporting increasing numbers of people with multiple, complex, conditions, therefore there is a need for more innovative, creative, intra professional team working practices and care planning.
Despite the accumulating evidence for inter-professional, collaborative care planning, and its effectiveness in bringing about change and recovery, collaborative working practices remain challenging. This is because of differing professional backgrounds: training, languages and skills.
One area of practice that has the potential to unite inter-professional thinking is having a shared way of undertaking evidenced based, client centred, strengths based conversations about change and improvement.<br>

www.leicspart.nhs.uk/weimproveQ The Aim of the Courses: To develop participants inter-professional care planning practices, by introducing a strengths based collaborative conversational approach, that promotes recovery via change.<br>
slide5. The Theoretical Underpinnings of the Strengths Based Conversational Approach:<br>
slide6. The Two SCC Courses: 1. LPT Mental Health: Piloted in 18/19 x3 cohorts (N = 60) Now recruiting for 19/20 x3 cohorts (N = 60) 2. Local Authority and Leicestershire Police: Now recruiting for 19/20 x6 cohorts (N= 120)<br>
slide7. Evaluating Impact: The pilot evaluation, via a survey, in 18/19 highlighted the value and benefits of the training from a mental health practitioner perspective.
Next steps: to undertake a more robust qualitative evaluation (using focus groups and surveys) exploring the value of the training from a range of differing professional perspectives (i.e. police, those allied to health care and social service staff, etc.).
The challenge, however is measuring the impact on the quality of service delivery… If anybody has any ideas please do share with us.<br>
