Some of the positions are: ground steward/stewardess check-in clerk security officer baggage handler air trafic controller mechanic Jobs on the plane People who work on the plane are called a crew. Pilots are a part of the crew, too. Cabin crew or cabin staff are the people who take care of passengers on the plane. Flight attendants are members of the cabin crew/cabin staff. Flight Attendant In the past flight attendants were called stewards and stewardesses. Today a gender-neutral term flight attendant is used. For ground staff (people who work at the airport) we can use the term ground steward/ground stewardess. A flight attendant is the person in charge of safety and comfort of passengers while on aircraft. They give safety instructions, serve refreshments and cater to passengers` needs. Advantages/Pros They can count on good health insurance and retirement plans. They do not have typical 9 to 5 work hours. They work intensely but then have a few days off. They have travel perks- cheaper air fares, free flights The are provided food and housing. Disadvantages/Drawbacks/Cons They are away from their family and friends. The job of a flight attendant is physically and mentally demanding. You cannot eat home-cooked meals, and it is difficult to engage in a fitness program. Some passengers can be rude or difficult.
