Lead testing and abatement of drinking water in schools and Headstarts/Daycares Lead assessment, testing, and inventory of homes Drug Use and Manufacturing in Homes - Remediation Water/Moisture Issues - Spring COVID-19 in the Home ?? District Engineer Rhinelander District Office March 2021 The Mission of Sanitation Facilities Construction IHS Elgible Housing New Homes Homes funded by non-HUD/NAHASDA funding New homes funded by CDBG funds Individual owner Like New Homes Renovated Home moved to site Other interpretations – please inquire, we try to say yes if at all possible. projects; facilitation of interagency cooperation, assistance with grant applications, etc. Types of Assistance Available for HUD Funded Projects Review of plans, specs, design documentation for proposed sanitation facilities Possible funding source for sanitation facilities Provision of professional engineering design and construction services Development of multi-agency funded sanitation projects; facilitation of interagency cooperation, assistance with grant applications, etc. Repository for record drawings/as-built information Engineering Review Would be for work completed by other engineers/architects Can review Preliminary Engineering Reports (PERs) for proposed improvements and design calculations, plans, and specs for specific facilities Reviews provided at no cost to Tribe GOAL: To ensure the facilities installed will serve the Tribe well for years to come – suitable technology, reasonable O&M requirements, etc. Possible Funding Source Bemidji Area received ~ $3.5 million of Housing funds the last several years (33 Tribes in Area) Allocated based on funding requests Have generally been able to meet needs Tribes will be receiving letters in next couple weeks asking about needs for upcoming year Homes being constructed through HUD ARRA Block Grants would be eligible Funding requests for FY2022 due to District Engineers by September 1, 2021. Engineering Design & Construction Inspection For sanitation facilities construction only Have 20 engineers in 3 states (MN, MI, and WI) 11 technicians who do surveying, drafting, soil testing, and construction inspection Cost is generally 15% of estimated cost of proposed facilities Contact us as soon as possible to find out if we can manage
