2. Victorian sleuth in the 21st century: SherlockIf you go to Baker Street, you can see the most intelligent detective still living in his house with the address 221B, HE IS BACK!Hence, he can use smart phone like you and use GPS; he is more powerful now apart from his magnificent deduction skills. Be careful when you lie or Sherlock will find!

3.

4. HISTORYFictionary detective created by the author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in the Victorian period.Very popular series since that time.Adapted by BBC in 2010 as a Tv series with the name Sherlock written by Steven Moffat and directed by Paul McGuigan.Sherlock made the character popular even for people who didn’t read the books.

8. A Study in PinkThe first episode of BBC series starts with the scene of war in Afghanistan where Dr. John Watson worked as a military doctor. Then, the story behind how Sherlock and John meet and become a roommate is shown. Also, we see Sherlock’s detective skills when he deduces that Watson has been in Afghanistan and he is a military doctor.

9.

10. A Study in PinkIn the episode, there are very mysterious death-series; noone knows if they are murders or simply similar suicides.Scotland Yard consults Sherlock to find out what’s going on.John involves the investigation as a title of doctor firstly, then he is becoming nearly a colleague as Sherlock .

11.

12. Sherlock and John understand from the deductions that these deaths are commited by the murderer , and they try who the killer is and how s/he can persuades people to commit suidice.

13. Then, it turns out that murders are about the pills. (No more spoilers!)

14. CRITICISMA Study in Pink is a partially adaptation of A Study in Scarlet which is the first novel of Sherlock Holmes books written by Doyle. We say loosely adapted because it has some individual elements from the story:Rache written with blood in crime sceneKiller’s illness

15.

16. BUT:Rache means different things for the book and the episode (a German word meaning “revenge” in the book but a woman’s name in the episode). The motivation of the killer is completely different (murder for revenge in the book but murder for money in the episode). Also, the backstory set is different, too ( in America in the book but in U.K. (London) in the episode)

17.

18. EVALUATION A partially adaptation from a classic can be seen as eccentric in the first place BUT:It makes the story different and very unusual so that people become impressed Also, an one-to-one adaptation of the classic of 19th century in the 21st century would seem very tough and, maybe, ridiciolus BECAUSE: As can be seen in this Tv series, it is possible to reflect the soul of the Victorian character with well-designed or adapted set and characters even without the whole adaptation.
