“I was
once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man
,
I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief.
14
The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly . . .

Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance:
Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners
—of whom
I am the worst
.
The Story of SAUL/PaulSlide6
“At this the Jewish leaders covered their ears and, yelling at the top of their voices, they all rushed at Stephen, dragged him out of the city and began to stone him [for confronting] their hard heartedness]. Meanwhile, the witnesses laid their clothes at the feet of a young man named Saul.” [Acts 7:57-58]Slide7
While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” Then he fell on his knees and cried out, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” When he had said this, he fell asleep.
And Saul was there, giving approval to his death.
[Acts 7:59-8:1]Slide8
“Saul began to destroy the church. Going from house to house, he dragged off men and women and put them in prison.” (8:2)
PAUL became a leader of hate
“Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord’s disciples. He . . . asked for letters to the synagogues in Damascus [to imprison Christians]” (9:1-2)Slide9
“I [Paul] saw a light from heaven … We all fell to the ground, and I heard a voice saying to me in Aramaic, ‘Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me? …” “Then I asked, ‘Who are you, Lord?’ “ ‘I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,’ the Lord replied. … I have appeared to you to appoint you as a servant” [Acts 26:13-16]
