Now running at 4C, stable. Low leak in SS2

Crucial for Tracker future the running at low temperature after LS1 (more on

Ettore’s

talk)

Cold test done this year is missing a flow measurement on main circuit (to be done next TS)

Upgrade needed for Primary Cooling (Evaporator; maybe also Compressor) and for our two cooling plants (SS1 and SS2)

Understanding the scenario of

running at -25C

(not obvious for cooling system and for humidity in services)

Crucial decision this year (spring) for the lifetime of the detector - Good work of the Cooling Working GroupSlide16

Recent Achievements

Data for alignment:

0.75M good tracks with B=0

0.86M good tracks with B=3.8T

other 1.24M needed before June (=3.5 days of

cosmics

data taking)

DCU calibration taken

IV scan done

DAQ team fixed the problem of Tracker configuration (see Derek presentation on Monday)

No change on Tracker hardware

cables changed (1-2ns)

Past problems were solved with APVE firmware changes

Conclusions and toughts

L.D. : Tracker status - TPO 22/03/2012

30

Tracker ready for collisions this year

No problem seen for high pile-up not radiation damage

DAQ is always under-pressure

DCS is loosing people – going to central support

We need to be careful on evolution of dead parts

Dead part at 2.25% (~1.3% in TIB)

Parts without cooling to be better understood (thermal instabilities / temperature)

Cooling performance + radiation damage = lifetime of Strip Tracker

Tracker should survive up to LS3

On radiation damage: only few people working on itIn INFN there are several experts that could contribute (many participant to RD50) Slide32
