Prefecture

(Iwata-City

, Kikugawa-City, and Mori-Town)

Supported by the Local Government

Excellent training and teaching system that produces family medicine specialists who can provide care of wide breadth and of high quality

Excellent Training and Teaching System

SFM has the support of Dr. Michael Fetters and the other attending physicians at the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Michigan (UM) for training SFM residents.

UM Family Medicine was ranked 3rd in the US in 2009 for its excellence and its national reputation in family medicine. Program residents have the opportunity to participate in family medicine training and Continuing Medical Education courses at UM.

❸ Supported by the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Michigan

SFM trains skilled family medicine specialists who can provide care not only of internal medicine and home visits, but also of the wide breadth as in the US so they can serve as a primary care physician for the entire family. Training breadth includes internal medicine, psychosomatic medicine, pediatric medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, orthopedic medicine, dermatology and emergency medicine.

❹ Training World-class Family Physicians

Physicians who can work especially in a group practice, not in a solo practice. Physicians who can support the elderly to “age well” (aging healthy with a purpose in life) and “age in place” (aging while living a life of your own in a familiar place)Physicians who can contribute to revival of community healthcare by providing inpatient care to patients utilizing open access system and providing up to level 1.5 emergency medical care

❺ Training Family Medicine Specialists Who can Effectively Provide Care in the Community

Training in family medicine clinicTraining in 2 community hospitals and 1 regional hospital

❼ Family Friendly Residency Program

❽ Continuous Training from Preliminary Residency through Advanced Training Available

❻ Excellent Training Environment

SFM provides training curriculum considerate of female physicians’ needs and helps with the placement of their children in day care so they can be trained to be family medicine specialists.
