License Description: DESCRIPTION OF OCCUPATION: A Clinical Laboratory Cytotechnologist is a trained technologist who examines human cell samples to detect early signs of cancer and other diseases. They examine cell samples for abnormal color, shape, and size and work with pathologists to form a diagnosis. REQUIREMENTS FOR LICENSING: Education and Experience requirements: 1) Bachelor\'s degree in cytotechnology; OR 2) Bachelor\'s degree in one of the chemical, physical, or biological sciences PLUS completion of accredited training program in cytotechnology; OR 3) Before 9/1/92: Complete 2 academic years of study in an accredited college or university with at least 12 semester hours on courses pertinent to the medical sciences PLUS 1 year of training in an approved school of cytotechnology or 6 months training in an approved school or cytotechnology and 6 months full-time experience in cytotechnology in a lab acceptable to the Department; OR 4) Before 9/1/94: Complete high school PLUS 6 months training in cytotechnology in a lab directed by a board certified pathologist, 2 years of full-time experience within the past 5 years in cytotechnology*. *This applies only to individuals who completed their training prior to 1/1/69. REQUIREMENTS FOR LICENSING: Education and Experience requirements: 1) Associate\'s degree from an accredited medical laboratory technician program; OR 2) Complete 60 semester hours of study in an accredited college PLUS complete an accredited medical laboratory technician program OR complete an advanced military medical laboratory technician program of at least 50 weeks and hold the Medical Lab Specialist position within 5 years prior to applying. License Description: DESCRIPTION OF OCCUPATION: An Electrologist removes hair from skin using needles and electrical equipment. REQUIREMENTS FOR LICENSING: Hawaii does not reciprocate with any jurisdiction, therefore, a person shall apply, qualify, be tested, and pay the necessary fees to become licensed in Hawaii. Personal requirements: 1) Be 18 years of age. 2) Be a U.S. citizen, a U.S. national, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. Experience and education requirements: Have electrology training (schooling/apprenticeship) in compliance with Hawaii\'s curriculum: a) Recognized schooling totaling 600 hours; or b) Qualified apprenticeship totaling 800 hours; or c) Combination schooling and apprenticeship totaling 700 hours. Experience is recognized only after licensure and/or completion of training, and for the purpose of satisfying differences in the training requirements. Experience totaling 1 year is necessary, any experience totaling less than 1 year will not be recognized. Submit copies of all electrologist licenses. Disqualification for licensure: 1) Criminal conviction associated with the electrologist\'s practice; 2) Declared mentally incompetent by a court; and 3) Administrative disciplinary action against the electrologist\'s license. EXAMINATIONS: Exam administered by a professional testing service. FEES: $50 foapplication, $96 for 2-year license, and $100 for the biennial compliance resolution fund. License renewal every 2 years is $96. OTHER: There were 10 licenses currently active as of February 17, 2021. ~ revised 10/16

License Description: DESCRIPTION OF OCCUPATION: A Naturopath diagnoses, treats, and cares for patients using a system of practice that bases treatment of physiological functions and abnormal conditions on natural laws governing the human body. REQUIREMENTS FOR LICENSING: Education requirements: Be a graduate of a school, university, or college of naturopathy which has been accredited by or received candidacy status with a regional or national accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. DOE at the time of graduation. EXAMINATIONS: Part I and II of the Naturopathic Physicians Licensing Examination (NPLEX) and if you took the NPLEX prior to August 2007, the exam on homeopathy. FEES: In 2021, pay $194 (application $25, license $95, compliance resolution fund $74). In 2022, pay $458 (application $25, license $95, compliance resolution fund $148, ½ renewal for 2nd year of 2-year license $190).
