Slide3Ovid Term Finder
Ovid Term Finder champions the expert researcher by providing them with a range of integrated features required for efficient searching of Ovid Medline.Simply introduce a term, and the Term Finder mapping feature helps collect search terms and either load them to the Ovid Search, or via “copy to clipboard”, send your search to your preferred editor (Word, Excel, Notepad)…Term Finder maintains the Ovid Advanced Search mode open at all times while you collect terms from the MeSH Tree, Used for Terms, Permuted Index and UMLS* vocabularies. *Unified Medical Language System (UMLS)

Slide4Multiple Contexts
Term Finder has improved the visibility of the MeSH Tree Hierarchy. Expert users can now see on one screen the number of different contexts that any selected MeSH term is associated with. A search for the MeSH term “Eye” now
displays much more clearly under its specific contexts,
Body
Regions
and
Sense Organs
.
Some examples, such as “
Aspirin
” are shown with over 10 different contexts in the
MeSH
.

Slide5Permuted index
The Permuted Index can be used as an excellent discovery tool for specific search terms. The term “Disorder” activates a Permuted Index listing showing all the specific disorders indexed in the database.
By browsing the permuted index users can quickly discover the specific term(s) they require, and make more targeted keyword combinations for their searches.
