or Tunis . Hannibal was born in Carthage . When he was only 26 he became the leader of the Carthage army . Rome was an empire then and they were planning to take over Carthage because it was such an important seaport but Hannibal wouldn’t allow it so he decided to take over Spain .

He and a lot of men had to get through the Alps witch was very difficult because most of their men had never seen snow since they were from Africa. They also brought a lot of elephants . Hannibal killed himself at the age of 65 by drinking poison before the Romans could ever savour in capturing their most hated enemy .His last words were , “Let us ease the Romans of their continual dread and care , who think it long and tedious to await the death of a hated old man”.
