First Aid is the immediate assistance or treatment given to someone injured or suddenly taken ill before the arrival of a ambulance, doctor or other appropriately qualified person

Lay babies downwards on your forearm.
Using the heel of your hand, give them
a firm back blow between the shoulder blades
.
Give up to five back blows, and check between each blow to see if the blockage has cleared.
Clear the blockage from baby’s mouth with your little finger.

5. If the blockage hasn’t cleared, lay baby on their back, place
two fingers in the centre of their chest
, and give them up to five chest thrusts – like CPR compressions but slower and sharper.
Check to see if the blockage has cleared between each thrust.

If baby is still choking, check to see that 999 has been called and alternate five back blows and five chest thrusts until emergency help arrives.
If at any point
baby becomes unconscious
, start CPR

5. Check the brachial pulse on the upper arm closest to you for 5-10 seconds.
6. If no pulse, start with 30 chest compressions using 2 fingers on chest.
7. The rate should be at least 100 compressions per minute.
8. Open the airway and give 2 breaths using a pocket mask or bag valve mask.
9. Continue 5 sets of 30 compressions and 2 breaths until the ambulance arrives to take over, or if someone else arrives to take over
